The place was okay. The walls were thin and we could hear others walking up and down the stairs. We were on the top floor, so not sure how that went for the people on lower floors. The pigeons outside our windows were really loud and woke us up at daybreak. But overall the room was clean and served it's purpose.
Number 8 The Town house is the perfect place to stay if visiting Londonderry. Overlooking the old wall, it's an easy walk to everything in the old town. The breakfast was great and prepared by a very entertaining and knowledgeable cook.If you come by car then parking is a bit of an issue but don't let this stop you from staying at the best guest house in Derry. My family absolutely loved our stay.
I don't get all the positive reviews. Sure it's well located and the rooms are cute. BUT. The room smelled of cat. The staff was at best rude bordering on aggressive. The full Irish breakfast was miserly. And the owner assured me I could safely park on street till 9 but I had to move by 8. AVOID.
Gorgeous place. The rooms were really nicely decorated and clean. Proper tall Georgian style ceilings. We had a view of the city walls, which was lovely. All of the staff were incredibly friendly. Breakfast in the morning was served downstairs, and was absolutely brilliant. We had a great chat with the chef, who cooks everything there in front of you and offered great advice and insight into Derry. Would definitely stay again, a credit to their town!
